Christian Welch
Ambassador - Rugby League

Christian Welch is a former professional rugby league player spanning a 10 year career with the Melbourne Storm, including two years as captain, an NRL Premiership and 6 State of Origin appearances.

Christian has always advocated for player safety and wellbeing including during his time on the Board of the Rugby League Players Association.

Since medically retiring in 2025, Christian is on a mission with GameGear to redefine athlete protection with cutting-edge headgear technology designed for performance, safety and comfort.

"I would love to see GameGear rolled out across the grassroots, making our sport safe for our kids."

Simon Black
Ambassador - Aussie Rules Football

Simon Black is one of the most respected figures in Australian sport, having enjoyed an illustrious AFL career with the Brisbane Lions spanning more than a decade. A triple AFL Premiership player, Brownlow Medallist and former club captain, Simon is widely regarded as one of the game’s great leaders and competitors.

Since retiring from elite football, he has continued to contribute to sport through media, mentoring and community engagement, with a strong focus on player welfare and development.

As a GameGear Ambassador, Simon is passionate about supporting innovation that prioritises athlete safety without compromising performance. He brings a powerful voice and lived experience to GameGear’s mission to improve protective equipment and create safer environments for athletes at all levels of the game.

Graeme Attey
Inventor

Graeme Attey is an industrial designer, inventor with over 40 years of experience in engineering, scientific research, product development and prototyping. He as applied for 132 different technology patents, with design registration, patents, and trademarks granted across the world.

His vision to revolutionise head protection began in 2012 when he started developing a helmet for Australian Rules Football. In 2015, the first iteration was manufactured and tested in 2016, which he has continued to refine for over 10 years.

This ongoing dedication to athlete protection ultimately created the revolutionary Nodal Impact Attenuation (NIA) system, which is at the heart of GameGear's innovation.

Jonathon Stewart
Co Founder

Jonnie is fuelled by a passion to shape the future of Australian sport, ensuring it continues to thrive for generations to come. Jonnie has had a lifelong involvement in rugby league starting as a player, then transition to administration having held General Manager roles at both the club and governing body levels within the NRL.

As a parent, he is personally passionate about making the sport he loves as safe as possible for his three young kids.

As Co Founder, Jonnie ensures that GameGear remains at the forefront of innovation, providing cutting edge sports headgear that enhances athlete performance and safety.

Peter Cumins
Co Founder

Peter Cumins is driven by a passion for sport and business with a commitment to making a lasting impact on the community. A life member of the Fremantle Roosters and an inductee in the WA Rugby League Hall of Fame, he has been a long-time supporter of grassroots rugby league. He now serves as the inaugural board member for the Perth Bears.

Outside of sport, Peter continues to serve as the Executive Deputy Chairman of Cash Converters overseeing their global operations, a company he has been with for over 25 years.

As Co-Founder, Peter is determined to make the sport that he loves as safe as possible for generations to come.

"I've seen the sport I love evolve. It's about time how we protect our athletes does too."
